Verbatim Dialog and Prompted Dialog

You can create individual lines of dialog in Episode scripts in two ways:

  • Write your own original verbatim dialog, which the characters will speak as written.
  • Write prompts or instructions that the AI uses in combination with our character profiles to create dialog. The AI will change the dialog it creates from your prompts each time you play the episode.

Verbatim dialog is the default and should be typed directly into script dialog fields without quotation marks.

To use AI instruction mode, click the star symbol to the right of the dialog field and type your prompt without quotation marks. Instructions should begin with a strong verb (like “tell” or “ask” or “complain”) and be as specific as possible for best results. For example, you could give Lydia an instruction like Brag to Kitty about all of the officers you danced with at the ball last night.

You can use a mixture of verbatim dialog and instructions within an episode, but not in the same line of the script.

You can have the AI simulate a conversation between characters by writing a series of instructions or prompts and clicking the star symbol next to each line. See the Whenere Samples episode “Instructions for Conversation” for an example of this and experiment with your own prompts.
